Things to Avoid Doing When Shopping for a Gift
When you are getting ready to give someone a gift, there are some things that you should not do. These are going to give them the wrong message, one way or another. So if you are going to go shopping for a gift for a person, here are the things you should NOT do.
- Go Shopping at the Last Minute – This is especially true if you are shopping online. Unless you are getting them something that can be sent through email or can be printed out, like a gift certificate, there’s no guarantee that they are going to get it in time. Then you feel embarrassed and you are wasting your money because you’ll have to buy them something else.
- Buy Something that Points Out Flaws –Unless they specifically ask for something to help them lose weight or something similar to that, don’t buy them something that is pointing out their flaws. This is going to say to them, “This is what I think is wrong with you and this is what will help you fix it.”
- Buy Something Generic – This goes right along with shopping at the last minute. If you buy them something just for the heck of it, they are going to know it. Give yourself enough time to buy them something that you know they’ll enjoy.
- Leave the Price Tag On – Okay, so most people do this by accident. But before you go and wrap that gift, give it a once over and make sure that the price tag is off. You don’t want the person to know what you paid for it, especially if you got it on clearance.
- Do a Crappy Wrapping Job – So maybe you’re all thumbs at wrapping. That’s fine. But they have invented these really cool things known as gift bags. If you are bad at wrapping, use a gift bag. It will look good and you won’t have to be embarrassed about your wrapping job.
So if you are going to go shopping, remember these things that you should avoid doing. It will make the gift occasion a lot nicer for you and your recipient.
